Knoxville R.A.M. Clinic January 5th and 6th

 

††††††††††† Knoxville, TN (2007-12-13) Remote Area Medical (R.A.M.) will host its next health expedition in Knoxville in January.The next planned clinic in Scott County is not scheduled until 2010.

††††††††††† Remote Area Medical, which provides free medical, dental and vision services to both adults and children, will hold a clinic in Knoxville on Saturday, January 5, 2008 and Sunday, January 6, 2008.The free health clinic will provide specialist exams and consultations, podiatry exams, flu shots, diabetes screening and education, skin care, skin rash evaluation and treatment, and screening for skin cancers.Dental cleanings, fillings and extractions will be available.Complete eye examinations and some prescription glasses will be made on site.The clinic will also address several womenís health issues, including mammograms, pap smears and breast exams.

††††††††††† Presently, the organization has twenty-three dentists commented to the clinic, along with several vision professionals.Healthcare professionals that would like to donate their time and talent should visit the organizationís website, www.ramusa.org.

††††††††††† The Knoxville event will be held in the Jacob Building, located at 3301 E. Magnolia Avenue.Registration will begin at 6:00 a.m. both days.Services will be provided on a first come, first served basis.The RAM Health Expedition is a tobacco-free event.

††††††††††† The services provided at RAM clinics are for the uninsured, underinsured, unemployed, and those who canít afford to pay.Services are provided by volunteer doctors, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, ophthalmologists, optometrists, opticians, and other trained health professionals.

††††††††††† Scott County residents may travel to Knoxville for these important services.According to officials, the next RAM clinic in Scott County is not planned until 2010.
