Drug Charges Brought Against Co-Worker That Took Wallet

Oneida, TN (2008-02-18) An employee of a local restaurant has been charged in connection with the theft of a co-worker’s wallet.  A search of his Oneida home resulted in additional charges on drug related offenses.

Timothy M. Corum, 36, of 437 Shepherd Road in Oneida was arrested and charged February 14, 2008 in connection with the alleged theft of a wallet from one of his co-workers at McDonald’s of Oneida.  According to an arrest warrant drafted by Oneida Police Officer Floyd Sexton, Sharon Brawner reportedly gave Corum a ride home last Thursday from work.  She later received a telephone call that Corum had taken her wallet from the inside pocket of the passenger side door of her vehicle.  When questioned by officers, Corum denied the allegation, but gave officers consent to search his home.  Authorities reportedly found some of the contents of Brawner’s wallet on a bed in the suspect’s bedroom, including the victim’s debit card.  The search also reportedly netted drugs and drug paraphernalia, including the alleged discovery of five small bags of marijuana.

Faced with the overwhelming evidence, Corum reportedly admitted to taking Brawner’s wallet and transported to the Oneida Police Department for booking.  He was charged with theft of property under $500, felony possession of marijuana for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Investigator Paul Adkins and Officer Shonda Duncan aided Officer Sexton in the investigation.

Corum will be arraigned in Scott County General Sessions Court on Wednesday, February 20, 2008.
