Traffic Collision Seriously Injuries One

 

            Oneida, TN (2008-10-01) A two-vehicle traffic crash on Highway 456 just west of the Veterans Memorial Overpass in Oneida sent one person to a Knoxville hospital with serious injuries Wednesday afternoon.

            According to Sgt. John Terry of the Oneida Police Department, Adam L. Lambert, 32, of Oneida was serious injured around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon when his pickup truck collided with a tandem dump truck on Paint Rock Road near its intersection with W. J. Jeffers Road in Oneida.

            Lambert, the driver of a 1998 Mazda truck, was eastbound on Highway 456, when he reportedly veered suddenly into the westbound lane and crossed into the path of a 1999 Chevrolet dump truck owned by Norfolk Southern Railway.  The accident occurred directly in front of Terry, who was patrolling in the area.

The Scott County Ambulance Service transported Lambert, who reportedly sustained serious injuries to his lower extremities, from the scene to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Oneida.  He was immediately transferred to U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville by LifeStar air ambulance.

Emmett D. Newport, 41, of Sunbright, driver of the dump truck, was reportedly uninjured in the accident.

Chief Mike Cross, Investigator Darryl Laxton and Patrolman Creston Burton and Gerry “Greasey” Garrett of the Oneida Police Department assisted Sgt. Terry.  The Scott County Rescue Squad was dispatched to the call, along with the Oneida Fire Department, which responded to the scene.
