Huntsville, TN (2008-10-06) An Oneida man accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with his foster daughter has been indicted by a Scott County Grand Jury.
Michael Brian Day, 27, of Oneida was indicted on four counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and another four counts of aggravated statutory rape on Monday. In the true bill, authorities allege that Day had inappropriate sexual contact with juvenile female between the Winter of 2007 and the Summer of 2008. At the time of Day’s arrest, the victim was said to be 15-years-old.
On September 7, 2008, Oneida Patrolman Gerry “Greasey” Garrett reportedly discovered Day and his foster daughter in varied states of undress in the backseat of a car in the Jeffers Cemetery. Upon questioning, the victim reportedly disclosed that she and Day had had numerous sexual encounters.
Day was originally charged with twenty-four counts of statutory rape.
In addition to Day, another 43 individuals were indicted on Monday, including 36 true bills that remain sealed.
Other indictments released on Monday included:
Sharon K. Owens, 49, of Oneida was indicted on a single count of theft of more than $1,000. Owens was one of four women charge in August in connection with a shopping scam at the Oneida Wal-Mart SuperCenter. On July 28, 2008, authorities allege that Mary Denise Reagan, 29, of Oneida, a cashier at the store, allowed Owens, Tammy Daughtery, 30, of Oneida and Cecelia Cooper, 35, of Oneida to leave the store without paying for select merchandise.
Teddy J. Pierce, Jr., 21, was charged with a single count of forgery stemming from his January 29, 2008 arrest. Authorities allege that Pierce drafted a check in the amount of $54.16 to Family Dollar on another party’s checking account.
Brenda Gail Hamrick, 29, was indicted on a single count of forgery. On November 11, 2007, authorities alleged that Hamrick wrote a check to Perdue’s Shell in the amount of $85.00 on a third party’s checking account.
Daniel Lee Manley, 21, was indicted for the cultivation or manufacture of marijuana (10 plants) and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. Manley was arrested on the alleged charges on July 1, 2008.
Jeffery Allen Clowers, 30, was charged with aggravated burglary. Authorities allege that Clowers entered a private residence on May 7, 2008.
Robin Lynn Williams, 44, was indicted on three counts, including driving under the influence (5th offense) – two counts; and driving on revoked license (2nd offense). The allegations stemmed from Williams’ April 6, 2008 arrest.
An indictment is a written statement charging a party with the commission of a crime or other offense, drawn up by a prosecuting attorney and found and presented by a grand jury.
