Dr. Lloyd Inducted as Fellow of American College of Osteopathic Surgeons

 

Boca Raton, FL (2008-10-08) The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) inducted Robert J. Lloyd, D.O. as a Fellow (FACOS) in September during the Annual Clinical Assembly of Osteopathic Surgeons held in Boca Raton, Florida.  Dr. Lloyd is a board certified general surgeon and osteopathic physician practicing in Oneida. The designation of Fellow of the ACOS is conferred upon members in recognition of their board certification and voluntary activities and service to advance osteopathic medicine and surgery.  Those who earn the FACOS designation have demonstrated their commitment to the practice of surgery; surgical teaching; authorship of professional papers; participation in local, state, and national osteopathic organizations; and adherence to the professional and ethical standards established by the ACOS and the American Osteopathic Association.

The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons is the primary advocate for the osteopathic surgical profession, representing more than 2,000 surgeons, surgical residents, and medical students nationwide. Founded in 1926, the mission of the ACOS is to assure excellence in osteopathic surgical care through education, advocacy, leadership development, and the fostering of professional and personal relationships.

Dr. Lloyd has been in practice in Oneida since 1998, were he is an active staff member at St. Mary's Medical Center of Scott County. He is currently serving as Chief of Medical Staff, Chief of Surgery, and a member of the hospital Board of Trustees. In addition to his involvement with the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, Dr. Lloyd is a member of the American Osteopathic Association.

After earning his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1991, Dr. Lloyd completed his internship and general surgical residency at the Hospital of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996.

Dr. Lloyd resides in Oneida with his wife, Lisa, and their two daughters, Jamie and Stephanie. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oneida where he serves as Treasurer. In his spare time, Dr. Lloyd enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, and gardening.
