More Than 700 Cast Votes In First Four Days Of Early Voting

 

            Huntsville, TN (2008-10-20) Voting in Scott County continued to be strong over the first four days of the state Early Voting period, as more than 700 people had already cast their preference by the close of the polls on Saturday.

            According to Administrator of Elections Gabe Lowe, 740 people have already voted in the November 4, 2008 General and Municipal Election.  Of the ballots cast, 647 were made by personal appearance at one of the county’s two Early Voting precincts.  The remaining 93 votes were cast by mail.

            In the municipal elections, a total of 65 persons had cast ballots in Huntsville, while 40 had made their preferences known in Winfield.

Early Voting will continue through Thursday, October 30, 2008. Eligible registered voters may cast their ballot Monday through Thursday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  Friday Early Voting hours, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Polls will be open Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

            Persons may cast their ballot at either of Scott County’s Early Voting precincts, regardless of where they live in the county.  The Early Voting polling sites are located at the Scott County Election Commission Office, 2845 Baker Highway in Huntsville and the Oneida Municipal Building, 121 Municipal Drive in Oneida.

            Voters must show identification when they appear to vote, both during the Early Voting period and on Election Day.
