Over 1,000 Cast Early Votes

 

            Huntsville, TN (2008-10-21) In just six days, more than 1,000 people have cast ballots during Early Voting for the November 4, 2008 General and Municipal Election.

            According to Administrator of Elections Gabe Lowe, a total of 1,043 people have cast votes in the November 4, 2008 election.  In the first six days of Early Voting, 945 people have voted by personal appearance, while 98 ballots had been cast by mail.

            In the Town of Huntsville Municipal Election, 84 persons have voted, while 49 have voted in the Town of Winfield election.

            Early Voting will continue through Thursday, October 30, 2008. Eligible registered voters may cast their ballot Monday through Thursday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  Friday Early Voting hours, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Polls will be open Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

            Persons may cast their ballot at either of Scott County’s Early Voting precincts, regardless of where they live in the county.  The Early Voting polling sites are located at the Scott County Election Commission Office, 2845 Baker Highway in Huntsville and the Oneida Municipal Building, 121 Municipal Drive in Oneida.

            Voters must show identification when they appear to vote, both during the Early Voting period and on Election Day.
