Scott County Schools to Test New Emergency Phone Notification System
Huntsville, TN (2008-11-12) The Scott County Schools will be testing their new SchoolReach emergency notification system this Friday evening, November 14, 2008. During the test, a sample message will be sent to the home numbers stored in each school’s contact list. In the future, general announcements and emergency messages will be delivered through the system.
According to Scott County School officials, the district will send a test message from its new SchoolReach emergency notification system on Friday evening. When the call is made, persons with Caller ID, stated a school representative, will see the system’s Central Office number displayed, 423.663.2159. The system will wait for you to say “Hello”. Say it only once or it will delay the message. After that, just wait for the message to begin. The system will know if your answering machine picks up and will play a recording for it. Make sure you set your answering machine to pick up after 4 rings or you may miss the message. You can listen to the message again if you press 1 at the end. This is very helpful in case your child answers the phone and hands it over to you. You can then have it repeat the entire message.
The Scott County Schools will continue to report school closings due to snow or weather on local radio and TV stations. The SchoolReach system will be used as well. Because busses run early in the morning, recipients may receive calls for school closings early too.
School officials hope this new service will assist parents. Anyone with questions regarding the system may call the Scott County Schools Central Office at 423.663.2159.
