TSSAA Announces 2009-2013 District Alignments
Murfreesboro, TN (2008-11-13) The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) announced high school district pairings on Thursday. The new classifications will be effective for four years, 2009-2013.
The TSSAA Board of Control met in Murfreesboro on Thursday and approved District alignments for high school athletics for the 2009-2013 school years.
In the new parings, both Oneida and Scott High will remain in their current districts; however, some current pairing will change. Under the new alignment, Oneida will be seated in District 4-A along with current district foes Coalfield, Oakdale, Sunbright and Wartburg Central. Jellico will join the District 4-A ranks, making a seven school district. Scott High will remain in District 4-AA, having been paired again with Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK), Kingston, Loudon and Stone Memorial. In the new pairings, Alcoa joins the District 4-AA fray, while Anderson County and Knox Catholic both moved up to the AAA classification and exit the district.
The TSSAA District A, AA and AAA pairings apply only to basketball, baseball and softball.
Last month, the TSSAA announced regional assignments for high school football. In the new football pairings, which has added another division, Oneida moved up into 2A football, while Scott High was placed in 4A. The regional pairing for football have not been announced.
