Free
and Reduced Price School Food Assistance Still Available
Oneida, TN (2008-11-18) If you recently lost your job, have been laid-off or had your hours reduced because of the economic downturn; then your child may be eligible for free or reduced price school meals. Students may apply for food assistance at anytime during the school year.
Many Scott County families have suffered a drop in family income because of the declining economy. If your income has been affected, your child may be eligible for school breakfast and lunch food assistance. According to Ann Daugherty, Supervisor of Instruction for the Oneida Special School District, it’s not too late to enroll your child for free or reduced price breakfast and lunch at his or her school.
Free and reduce priced school meals are based on family size and income. A typical family of four can earn up to $27,560 per year and still qualify for free meals. A family of four with an annual income of $39,220 can receive reduced price meals.
“If you experience a change in family income or family size, you may apply at anytime throughout the year,” commented Scott County Food Services Director Paulette King.
