Huntsville, TN (2010-08-16) On Monday, Scott County and the Scott County Fair Association will recognize a long-time community volunteer for her service to the fair and the county. She will be recognized during opening ceremonies at the 84th Annual Scott County Fair in Oneida.
Each year, Scott County and the Scott County
Fair Association recognize a deserving Scott Countian for his or her service to
the local fair and community. This year, Cheryl Boyatt, a member of the Scott
County Fair Association Board of Directors and Co-Chairman of the Fairest of
the Fair Pageant, will be honored. Boyatt, an employee of First National Bank of
Oneida for the last 38 years, is currently a Customer Service officer for the
local bank.
Cheryl is active in numerous local and
regional civic organizations, especially the local chapter of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars. She is a charter member
of the VFW Post 5669 Ladies Auxiliary, where she has served as President for
the past 13 years and was the first woman from Scott County to serve as
Department President for the state of Tennessee in 2005-2006. In two
consecutive years, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001, Cheryl was the recipient of the
Mary B. Cothran Award for Leadership and Membership, and was the recipient of
the Aide-De-Camp award in 2004-2005. Cheryl was awarded the Helen Carson Award
for leadership as well in 2009, and the Carl B. Goins Award in 2010.
Cheryl is married to Bill Boyatt and they
have two children, son Willie Boyatt and daughter Brandon Ryon, and two
grandchildren, Todd Derek Ryon and Brock Aron Ryon. She currently attends the
First United Methodist Church of Oneida.
Opening ceremonies for the 2010 Scott County
Fair will be held Monday, August 23, 2010 on the stage at 6:30 p.m. At the ceremony, Boyatt will receive an
official copy of her recognition proclamation passed Monday night by the Scott
County Commission.
