Scott County Extension Offering Programs For Livestock Producers, Homeowners, And Youth

 

            Huntsville, TN (2011-01-11) The Scott County Extension Office is gearing up for 2011 with a variety of programs and services for the people of Scott County.

Upcoming programs for the Scott County Extension Office in the agriculture area are Artificial Insemination Training for Beef Producers on January 25, 2011, Home Gardening Class on February 22, 2011, Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop on February  24, 2011, Apple Tree Grafting Workshop on March 8, 2011, and the weekly Scott County Farmers and Crafters Market beginning May 7, 2011.

            Youth Development programs already planned for 2011 are 4-H Camp June 27th-July 1st for 4th through 6th Graders and July 11th-15th for 7th and Graders. 4-H camp is a fun week of meeting new friends and learning life skills. Space is limited and deposits are now being taken.

            There are two upcoming meetings, in the area of family and consumer sciences. A Walk Across Tennessee meeting will be on January 25, 2011 and a Scott County Family and Consumer Education Club meeting on January 13, 2011.

            In an effort to help local gardeners and homeowners purchase plants and products for their use. The Extension office is now taking orders on strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and apple tree root stock.
