Henry / Byrge Middle School Tournament MVPs

 

            Huntsville, TN (2011-01-24) Mahaley Henry of Robbins and Kaleb Byrge of Huntsville have been named the Most Valuable Players of the 2011 Scott County Middle School tournament, which concluded on Friday at Scott High School in Huntsville.

            Henry, a starter on the Lady Hawks basketball squad, helped lead her team to the county championship on Friday, defeating the Lady Rebels of Fairview.  The Lady Bears of Huntsville finished third in the tournament, followed by the Lady Bobcats of Winfield.

            Byrge, a starter from Huntsville, contributed to his squad’s county championship too, as the Bears defeated the Fairview Rebels in the boy’s championship game.  The Robbins Hawks and the Burchfield Rams finished third and fourth respectively.

            Female players receiving all tournament team honors Friday night were:  Robbins Elementary – Aubrie Terry, Jessica Edwards and Heather Bunch; Fairview Elementary – Meotia Harness, Emily Lloyd, and Montana Phillips; Huntsville Elementary – Merry Carson and Nicole Casey; Winfield Elementary – Jenise Litton; and Burchfield Elementary – Desirae Burress.

            Boys named to the all tournament team were:  Huntsville Elementary – Ryan Jeffers, Stephen Butts, and Rusty Ellis; Fairview Elementary – Chase Lowe, Logan Lowe, and Devin Lowe; Robbins Elementary – Dalton Massengale and Josh Crowley; Burchfield Elementary – Billy Hall; and Winfield Elementary – Josh Honeycutt.

            In addition to team honors, the Burchfield Rams cheerleading squad was presented the Cheerleading Spirit Award, and Robbins was awarded the Sportsmanship Award.
