Oneida Woman
Arrested For Fraudulently Trying To Obtain Pain Killers
Oneida, TN (2011-02-17) An Oneida woman faces
multiple charges following a failed attempt to obtain a powerful painkiller
from a local pharmacy.
Beverly
A. Sims, 53, of Oneida was arrested on Wednesday
by the Oneida Police Department after she allegedly attempted to obtain the
powerful painkiller Hydrocodone from an Oneida pharmacy. According to an arrest warrant filed by K-9
Officer Floyd Sexton of the Oneida Police Department, Sims allegedly called a
local pharmacy on Wednesday claiming to be Ann Smith, a nurse from a Huntsville medical
practice. When the technician at the
pharmacy didn’t recognize the name or voice, she reportedly became suspicious and
telephoned the doctor’s office for verification. That’s when, according to authorities, the
pharmacy learned the person didn’t exist and telephoned the police department.
Sexton,
along with Chief Darryl Laxton, went to the pharmacy and waited for the
suspect, then known as Cletis
Boles, the name Sims’s allegedly used on the prescription, to arrive. After Sims picked up the medication and
signed Boles’ name to the registry, Laxton and Sexton, who had been waiting for
her in the back of the store, arrested her on site.
Sims
was charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, forgery, and
possession of a schedule III controlled substance, Hydrocodone.
