Suspicious Man Wandering Near School
Leads To Lockdown At Robbins
Robbins, TN
(2011-03-24) A suspicious man wandering behind Robbins Elementary School led authorities to
lockdown the facility early Thursday afternoon.
According
to Chief Deputy Ronnie Phillips of the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Robbins Elementary School was locked down for
about an hour early Thursday afternoon, as law enforcement officers combed the
area looking for a disturbed man.
The situation began unfolding at
11:59 a.m., when a Knoxville
healthcare worker notified the Scott County Sheriff’s Department that a local
psychiatric patient was threatening harm to himself or others. Within minutes, authorities responded to the
man’s residence, which was near Robbins
Elementary School;
however, he wasn’t there. Shortly
thereafter, an employee at the school notified officers of a man wandering
around behind the building. In response,
the school was locked down.
Law
enforcement officers scoured the neighborhood looking for the man, who later
turned up near the school.
The gentleman was taken from the
scene by the Scott County Ambulance Service to St. Mary’s Medical Center of
Scott County for evaluation. No charges
have been filed.
