Commission Honors Local Award-Winning Business

 

Huntsville, TN (2011-04-18) The Scott County Commission honored a local business for receiving national recognition for outstanding work in its field.

Monday night, the Commission honored the Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center, which has been serving Scott and surrounding counties for over forty years. Recently, the Center was listed in the U.S. News and World Report as one of the best nursing homes in Tennessee in 2011, with a five star out of five rating. In addition, the Center was recognized by the American Healthcare Association as one of seven rehabilitation facilities to receive a Bronze Award for 2010 for quality of care and services it provides.

Center Administrator Angie Chitwood was also named as the Top Performing Administrator in the Grace Healthcare System, which consists of approximately fifty facilities nationwide. And the Center received the Graceful Living Award from Grace, for promoting exceptional working and residential environments for its employees and patients. The prize for the award was $50,000, to be distributed among the Center employees.

The commission congratulated the Center on its achievements, and commended Chitwood and the Center staff for their awards.

In other business Monday night, the Commission:

·        Agreed to lease terms with the New River/Mccreary County Baptist Association for the lease of the Old Winfield School Building, for the creation of the Appalachian Mission Center;

·        Appointed Bert Walker and Sabrina Terry to the Scott County Public Records Committee. Terry’s appointment would be effective only while she remains in the employ of the Scott County Mayor’s Office;

·        Agreed to the donation of $2,500 to the Relay for Life, a charitable donation that was included in the 2010-2011 fiscal budget;

·        Honored R.T. Walden and Frances Walden, members of the 7th District Volunteer Fire Department for the last 22 years, 21 as Chief and Treasurer respectively;

·        And declared April 7, 2011 as National D.A.R.E. Day, April 26, 2011 as Scott County D.A.R.E. Day, and May, 2011 as National Preservation Month in Scott County.
