Field Of Candidates For County Director’s Job Narrowed To Three

Huntsville, TN (2011-04-18) The field of candidates for the Scott County Director of Schools job has been cut in half.  The finalists will be interviewed next week.

Last Thursday, the Scott County Board of Education agreed to narrow the field of potential candidates for the Director of School position to three, eliminating all out-of-town applicants.  After a series of votes on each candidate, the Board voted unanimously to interview the three local candidates, Huntsville Middle School Principal LaMance Bryant, Scott High School Principal Bill Hall, and Burchfield Elementary School Principal Randy Shelton.

Candidates eliminated in the process were Dr. Roger Terry, the current Supervisor of Operations and Curriculum Specialists for the Clinton City School System; Dr. Joseph A. Miller, Assistant Principal of Sunbright High School; and Arthur Politz, a retired educator from Jasonville, IN.

According to Director Sharon Wilson, the three candidates will be interviewed on Thursday, April 28, 2011.  Interviews will begin at 4:00 p.m.

The Board of Education is expected to hire a new Director during a special-called meeting on Tuesday, May 3, 2011.
