Appalachia Habitat’s NAILS for NAILS Women Build May 2 -13

Robbins, TN (2011-04-25) In honor of Mother’s Day, Appalachia Habitat for Humanity’s 2011 Women Build Project will be held from May 2, 2011 to May 13, 2011.  The event, dubbed NAILS for NAILS, will honor Vivian Smith, a long-time Habitat Board member.

On Monday, May 2, 2011, women from all walks of life will join together to build a future for a deserving Habitat for Humanity homeowner.  The project, NAILS for NAILS, will construct a single-family home in Vivian Village, a subdivision created in honor of long-time friend and Appalachia Habitat Board Member, Vivian Smith.

“In these sometime difficult times, we need the positive support of other ladies from all walks of life,” commented Haley Terry.  Support can come in many forms, from warm greetings, a shoulder to cry on, a manicure for her nails, or swinging a hammer to drive home nails to construct a new home.

The home build will last about two weeks, as the projected completion date is Friday, May 13, 2011.  Vivian Village is located on Jane Phillips Road in the Pine Hill Community.  Signs will direct volunteers to the work site.  Lunch will be provided each day by sponsors and devotions will be lead by a lady guest each day.

Despite a personal battle with cancer, Mrs. Smith devoted countless hours to Applachia Habitat and its mission to provide affordable housing to the people of the region.  She passed away in April 2009.
