Hall Chosen New Director of Scott County Schools

Huntsville, TN (2011-05-03) The Scott County Board of Education has named Bill Hall the next leader of the Scott County School System.  He will take office on July 1, 2011.

In a special called meeting Tuesday, May 3, 2011, the Scott County Board of Education voted to hire Scott High School Principal Bill Hall to be the district’s next Director of Schools.  Hall received the support of all seven members of the body, which each cast a voice vote in his favor.  Hall was chosen from a field of three finalists, which included Burchfield Elementary School Principal Randy Shelton and Huntsville Middle School Principal LaMance Bryant.  In all, six persons originally applied for the job.

Hall, who has been Principal at Scott High School for the last four years, began his career as a classroom instructor at Burchfield Elementary School in January 1989.  Later than year, Hall was hired by the Oneida Special School District.  For the next six years, Hall was a physical education instructor at Oneida Middle School.  He was also head football and basketball coach for the Oneida Middle School Indians.  In 1995, Hall returned to the Scott County School System, becoming a physical education instructor at Scott High School.  Over the course of the next twelve years, Hall held many different positions at the school, including head basketball coach, and assistant and head football coach.  In 2001, he became Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Scott High.  When his predecessor, Sharon G. Wilson, was named Director of Schools in 2007, Hall became Principal

While the School Board has offered Hall the job, his placement is subject to negotiation of an amenable contract.  The Board of Education will hold a special-called work session to negotiate contract terms on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the system’s central office in Huntsville.  While most aspects of the contract are negotiable, the maximum term permitted by state law is four years.

Current Director Sharon Wilson will retire from the school system at the end of her current contract on June 30, 2011.
