Hall Chosen New Director of Scott County
Schools

(2011-05-03) The Scott County Board of Education has named Bill Hall the
next leader of the Scott County School System.
He will take office on July 1, 2011.
In
a special called meeting Tuesday, May 3, 2011, the Scott County Board of
Education voted to hire Scott High School Principal Bill Hall to be the
district’s next Director of Schools.
Hall received the support of all seven members of the body, which each cast
a voice vote in his favor. Hall was
chosen from a field of three finalists, which included Burchfield Elementary
School Principal Randy Shelton and Huntsville Middle School Principal LaMance Bryant. In
all, six persons originally applied for the job.
Hall,
who has been Principal at Scott High School for the last four years, began his career
as a classroom instructor at Burchfield
Elementary School in
January 1989. Later than year, Hall was
hired by the Oneida
Special School
District. For
the next six years, Hall was a physical education instructor at Oneida Middle
School. He
was also head football and basketball coach for the Oneida Middle School
Indians. In 1995, Hall returned to the
Scott County School System, becoming a physical education instructor at Scott High
School.
Over the course of the next twelve years, Hall held many different
positions at the school, including head basketball coach, and assistant and
head football coach. In 2001, he became
Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Scott High. When his predecessor, Sharon G. Wilson, was
named Director of Schools in 2007, Hall became Principal
While the School
Board has offered Hall the job, his placement is subject to negotiation of an
amenable contract. The Board of
Education will hold a special-called work session to negotiate contract terms
on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the system’s central office in Huntsville. While most aspects of the contract are
negotiable, the maximum term permitted by state law is four years.
Current
Director Sharon Wilson will retire from the school system at the end of her
current contract on June 30, 2011.
