Wilson Recognized For Lifelong Education Career

 

            Huntsville, TN (2011-06-09) After nearly forty years in education, Sharon Wilson, who is currently the Director of the Scott County School System, will retire at the end of the month.  In recognition of her outstanding career, Wilson was honored during Thursday night’s Scott County Board of Education meeting.

            At her final meeting, outgoing Director of Scott County Schools Sharon Wilson was honored by the Board of Education Thursday night, which presented the lifelong educator with a rocking chair.  Wilson, who has served in the top administrative post at the county school system for the last four years, announced in March she would leave her job at the end of her current contract.  Last month, the Board of Education named Scott High School Principal Bill Hall to fill the pending vacancy.  Later in the month, Scott High School Assistant Principal Melissa Rector was named the new Principal at Scott High.

            In other personnel issues Thursday night, Wilson announced the following persons had been hired and placed for the 2011-2012 school year:

·        Huntsville Elementary—Kelli Miller was named a teacher at the school effective August 1, 2011, and Crystal Perdue was reassigned from her role as a teacher assistant to teacher;

·        Huntsville Middle—Amy Kirby was named cafeteria manager, while Ericka Boles, Reda Burress, Joyce Byrd, Sandra Collins, Wilda Goodman and Sarah Jones were named to the cafeteria staff.  Lora Gibson was named the school’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Coordinator.  Kate Lowe was named the head girls basketball coach;

·        Robbins Elementary—Stephen Burress was named head football coach; and,

·        Rhena King was hired as a substitute cook, while Chad Rogers was hired as a substitute bus driver.

Wilson also announced a number of resignations, including bus driver Gaylon King; Coordinated Health Assistant Tonya Duncan; Huntsville Elementary and Middle School nurse Candy Neal; and Scott High School teacher Tony Zachary.

            Roy Young, a bus driver for the district, was also granted a leave of absence.
