Poore Named New
Head Basketball Coach At SHS
Huntsville, TN
(2011-06-14) After interviewing with the Scott
County School System on Monday, Highlander Assistant Coach Chris Poore has been named the new boys basketball coach at Scott High
School.
After one
season in the shadow of his high school mentor, Chris Poore,
who played for former Highlander head coach Bill Duncan at his alma mater Greenville High School, has been named the new boys
basketball coach at Scott High. Poore, who played collegiately at both Anderson University
and Tusculum College, is best known for his two-year
stint with the Washington Generals, the archrival of the Harlem Globetrotters. Although Poore
played in many countries, including China, Taiwan, Costa Rica, Guatemala,
Argentina, Germany, Hungary, Romania and the Czech Republic. And of course, he was a regular on the Globetrotters'
U.S. Tour.
Despite his “success” with the
Generals, Poore always wanted to be a coach. While finishing his college career at Tusculum, Poore assisted Duncan at his alma
mater. After Duncan
was named the head coach at Scott High last season, he called Poore, and the duo, with the assistance of former Oneida and Wake
Forest standout Rodney
West, led the Highlanders to an impressive season.
Duncan resigned in May after just one year
with the Highlander program.
