Oneida Man Booked
On Drug Charges After He’s Found Making Meth
Oneida, TN
(2011-07-11) The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has booked an Oneida man for allegedly
making methamphetamine inside his home.
The suspect was reportedly making the illegal drug when deputies
arrived.
Ronnie
Dean Sexton, 27, of Oneida
was booked at the Scott County Jail last Wednesday after law enforcement
officers allegedly found him “cooking” meth inside his O and W Road home. Following up on information that Sexton was
actively making meth, Scott County Sheriff Mike Cross, Chief Deputy Ronnie
Phillips, Drug Agent Kris Lewallen, Sgt. Danny
Phillips and Sgt. Gary Sexton went to Sexton’s home. Upon arrival, Sexton reportedly greeted
officers at the rear of the single-wide mobile home. Sexton reportedly admitted he was cooking
meth and implied he had left the home because “something was wrong” with the
batch.
Agent
Lewallen and Sgt. Phillips, both trained clandestine
lab technicians, donned hazmat suits and breathing apparatus and entered the
home. Inside, deputies reportedly found
an active lab. Authorities disassembled
the lab and removed it from the home.
Given the potential for an unfavorable outcome, the Oneida Fire
Department also responded to the scene.
Sexton
was charged with promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine; intent to
manufacture methamphetamine,; manufacturing
methamphetamine; possession of a schedule II controlled substance (meth), two
counts; possession of a schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana); and
possession of drug paraphernalia.
