Scott County Couple Arrested For Selling Drugs In Winfield Trailer Park

 

            Huntsville, TN (2011-07-11) An Oneida man and his Winfield girlfriend have been arrested for allegedly selling drugs from her residence.

            Melvin Stephens, 34, of Oneida and Janette Cox, 36, of Winfield were arrested last Wednesday at Cox’s mobile home in Slaven’s Trailer Park in Winfield.  According to arrest warrants filed by Deputy Keith Hawkins of the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, the pair was allegedly peddling drugs from the home, including methamphetamine.  After authorities allegedly observed Stephens’ selling drugs to several customers, the Sheriff’s Department, which had outstanding warrants for Stephens’ arrest, converged on the trailer.

            Authorities allegedly found crystal meth, hydrocodone pills, a light bulb used to smoke meth and a pill snorter inside Cox’s purse.  Stephens reportedly admitted the drugs belonged to him.

            Both suspects were charged with possession of schedule II and schedule III controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
