Former Oneida Man Killed In Greene County Traffic Crash

 

            Greene County, TN (2011-08-08) A former Oneida resident was killed in a single vehicle traffic crash on Interstate 81 in Greene County late Sunday night.  Three passengers in the vehicle, all minor children of the driver, were injured in the accident.

            Mark Manis, 50, of Sugar Hill, GA and formerly of Oneida died following a single vehicle traffic crash on I-81 near mile marker 24 in Greene County around 10:00 p.m. Sunday night.  According to published reports, Manis, driver of a Chrysler mini-van, was in the left lane of southbound I-81 when he reportedly drifted off the side of the roadway.  After leaving the highway, the van reportedly struck a tree and spun around, resulting in the vehicle coming to rest facing northward.

            Three passengers in the vehicle, identified as Corey Manis, 16, Tucker Manis, 11, and Hunter Manis, 9, all of Oneida, were injured.

            All occupants were reportedly wearing their seat belts.

            The accident was investigated by Trooper Erick Gordon of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
