Five Meth Labs Discovered In Six Days

 

            Huntsville, TN (2011-08-09) The Scott County Sheriff’s Department had another active week in its crack down on the production of methamphetamine, discovering five labs in only six days.  Two persons have been charged in connection with a pair of the labs, while suspects have been identified in the other three.

            According to Scott County Sheriff Mike Cross, Gil Clark, 46, of Helenwood was arrested on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 following the discovery of a methamphetamine lab at 200 Old Cotton Road in Helenwood.  Clark was charged with promotion of the manufacture of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession meth, a schedule II controlled substance.

            On Sunday, August 7, 2011, authorities filed additional charges against Patrick L. Chitwood, 31, of Lafollette.  Chitwood was charged following the discovery of a meth lab in the 3000 block of Mill Branch Road in Huntsville.  According to authorities, Chitwood, upon questioning, admitted the lab, which was found hidden in the woods, was his.

            Over the course of the week, the Sheriff’s Department discovered three other labs.  On Friday, August 5, 2011, a pair of labs was found in Helenwood at 12726 and 12730 Scott Highway.  A third lab was found on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 500 Water Tank Road in Robbins.  In each case, suspects have reportedly been identified and the Sheriff’s Department has active investigations into each.

            The Sheriff’s Department also arrested one person on a theft warrant on Saturday.  Jeffrey Allen Clowers, was picked up by Sheriff’s Department on an outstanding felony warrant for theft and violation of the probation.
