Huntsville Man Killed In Campbell County Accident

Pioneer, TN (2011-09-08) A Huntsville man was killed early Thursday morning in a two-vehicle head-on traffic crash on State Route 63 just east of the Pioneer Post Office in Campbell County.

Timmy Alan Byrge, 24, of Huntsville, the driver of a 2000 Chevy Blazer was reportedly westbound on Baker Highway, when he reportedly crossed the center line into the path of an eastbound pickup truck; a 2011 Ford F-150 owned by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.  The two vehicles reportedly collided head-on in the eastbound lane, resulting in the truck whipping violently around, with the rear of the vehicle going airborne and coming to rest on top of the eastbound guardrail.

Byrge was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the truck, identified as Gloria Goad, 39, of Pioneer, was pinned in the wreckage and had to be extricated from the vehicle.  Goad was transported to U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville, where she was reportedly admitted with serious, potentially life threatening injuries.

Trooper Aaron Evans, along with the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), from the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated.
