Wheels and Wings Headline Annual Air Show

Oneida, TN (2011-09-08) Classic cars and trucks and a host of fixed wing aircraft will headline the 8th Annual Wings Over The Big South Fork Air Show and Car Show this Saturday at the Scott County Airport in Oneida.

While attendees will enjoy the familiar sights and sounds of the annual Wings Over The Big South Fork Air Show, this year’s event has added a new attraction, an antique and classic car show.  The car show will join a host of high flying entertainment, including a comedic air display by veteran pilot Johnny White of Abingdon, VA, a skywriting demonstration by Mark Sorenson, who will fly his tiger-striped 1-ton YAK, Titus the Tumbling Tiger, over the skies of the Big South Fork, and an air show by a Russian fighter jet.  Throughout the day, old war birds from the Tennessee Museum of Aviation in Sevierville and stunt planes will be on display.

The day’s activities will begin at 8:00 a.m., as the gates will open for car show registration.  Registration is $10 per vehicle.  Dash plagues and cash prizes will be awarded. Hot air balloon rides will also begin at eight, weather permitting. Rides will cost $8 per person or 2 for $12.  At 9:00 a.m., airplane rides will be available.  Cost will be $35 per person or 3 persons for $90.  Good Day In The Morning will perform a bluegrass show at 10:00 a.m.  Air shows will begin at 1 o’clock with parachute jumps, warbird fly-bys, and a salute to veterans.  In addition to the air and car shows, there will plenty of food, fun, games, and merchandise too.
