Training For The Future
According to Oneida Police Chief Daryl Laxton, Oneida Drug Agent Blake Murphy, along with Patrolman Adam Douglas, will soon attend training specifically designed to get the officers more acquainted with the latest tactics used in the war against illegal drugs.
Laxton, who
addressed the Oneida City Council Thursday night, spoke about the department’s
recent efforts to curtain the flow of illegal narcotics in and around the city. On Labor Day, the Oneida Police Department,
along with the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, attempted to serve more than

According to Laxton, several of those arrested have already been processed through the court system. Two of those arrested, stated Laxton, are expected to accept plea deals that could result in up to eight years of jail time.
Meanwhile, Agent Murphy and Officer Douglas will hone their skills to work on the front lines of the local war on drugs and continue to make cases against suspected drug pushers.
In other business Thursday night, Assistant Chief Daniel Murley of the Oneida Fire Department gave the councilmen a briefing regarding the department’s monthly activities, including training and emergency calls.
