Cherry Fork Man Dead; Shooting Under Investigation

Oneida, TN (2011-09-29) One man is dead, one injured and another has been detained for questioning following a shooting Thursday night in the Cherry Fork Community.

According to Scott County Sheriff Mike Cross, Robert W. Letner, 57, of the Cherry Fork community is dead following a shooting at 1925 Cherry Fork Road in Oneida. At 7:35 p.m. Thursday night, authorities responded to the residence following a 911 call that some one had been shot.

In addition to Letner, one other person was reportedly injured. The second person, who has not been identified, was reportedly transported from the scene to St. Mary’s Medical Center of Scott County, and later released.

A third person at the scene was reportedly detained for questioning.

The cause of the shooting and the identity of the shooter have not been released. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Scott County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
