Two Killed In Two Vehicle Crash

Oneida, TN (2011-10-09) Two people were killed Sunday night in a two vehicle traffic crash on Scott Highway just south of Oneida.

Shadow Lowe, 18, and Gregory Brian Sexton, 27, both of Huntsville, were killed Sunday night in a head-on traffic crash on U.S. 27 near its intersection with Galloway Drive in Helenwood.

According to a preliminary report filed by investigating officer Trooper Jonathan Scott of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Sexton, the driver of a 2008 Ford Fusion, was traveling north on U.S. 27 around 10:22 p.m. Sunday night when he allegedly crossed into the path of Lowe’s southbound 1999 Mercury Cougar.

A third vehicle was reportedly damaged in the accident, but was not directly involved in the wreck.  A 2011 Ford Edge driven by Melinda G. Gibson, 42, of Huntsville was reportedly damaged by debris from the initial collision.

Lowe was reportedly wearing her seatbelt.  Trooper Scott listed Sexton’s seatbelt usage as unknown.

Drugs and/or alcohol were reportedly not a factor in the accident.  Toxicology reports were ordered on both victims, a standard procedure in any accident involving a fatality.
