Oneida Awarded $500,000 Grant For Sewer Improvements

Oneida, TN (2011-11-17) The Oneida Water and Wastewater Department and the Town of Oneida have been awarded a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant for sewer line rehabilitation. Governor Bill Haslam will make the formal announcement on Tuesday in Oneida.

State Representative Kelly Keisling (38 District-R) joined Oneida Mayor Jack E. Lay Thursday night in making the announcement at the regularly schedule meeting of the Oneida City Council. “It’s an honor to announce Oneida has been awarded a $500,000 grant for sewer line rehabilitation,” commented Keisling. According to Mayor Lay, only two such grants were awarded in east Tennessee. “We’re very fortunate to get (the grant),” Lay added.

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam will make the formal announcement of the grant award on Tuesday in Oneida. The ceremony is tentatively scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on November 22, 2011 at Oneida City Hall.
