Helenwood Man Booked
On Forgery Charges
Oneida, TN (2011-12-05) A Helenwood man that
allegedly passed stolen checks at three local stores has been booked on theft
and forgery charges.
Gary
T. Stephens, 23, of Huntsville
was arrested last Thursday on theft and forgery charges following an
investigation into the passing of forged check at three local stores. According to an arrest warrant filed by
Patrolman Joshua Kennedy of the Oneida Police Department, Stephens, the stepson
of the victim, allegedly passed forged checks at the Wal-Mart
SuperCenter
in Oneida on
three occasions. He is also accused of attempting to pass another check at
least three times at the store. Stephens
also reportedly wrote worthless checks to Helenwood Foods and Dollar Tree.
Stephens
was booked on December 1, 2011 on charges of theft of under $500 and forgery (8
counts). He is currently housed in the
Scott County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
