School Board Rejects Bids On Fairview Parking Lot Improvements

            Huntsville, TN (2011-12-08) With prices nearly twice the estimated cost of the project, the Scott County Board of Education has rejected a pair of bids on an improvement to the parking lot at Fairview Elementary School.

            Meeting in regular session Thursday night, the Scott County Board of Education voted 6-0 to reject two bids received by the County Finance Committee for improving the parking lot at Fairview Elementary School.  As proposed the improvements would provide a second connection between the parking lot and the highway; however, both bids received on the project were nearly twice the estimated cost.  Last month, the County Finance Committee received bids from First Place Finish, Inc. and Rogers Group.  The bids, $19,910.00 and $26,791.00 respectively, were double the estimated $10,000 estimated cost.  In its motion to reject the bids, the Board also voted to rebid the project.

            In other business Thursday night, the Board:

·                    Accepted bids from Tour Coordinators of Oneida for the Scott High senior trip to New York, NY and the middle school Beta club trip to Gettysburg, PA and Washington, D.C.;
