Three Oneida Players Named To All-State Team

 

            Nashville, TN (2011-12-21) Three players on the Oneida Indians football squad were among those named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state team on Tuesday.

            Oneida offensive lineman Jesse King, defensive lineman Trevor Allen, and kicker Douglas Manning were among area high school students that were honored by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association on Tuesday, all being named to the organization’s Class 2-A all-state team.

            King, a 6’4” junior is a three-year member of the Oneida football squad.  Allen, 6’0” is also a junior.  Manning is a first year member of the Indian squad.  He’s a 6’1” senior.

            Other east Tennessee players to make the team were:

·        Oliver Springs—Garrett Miller (quarterback), and Jordan Romero (running back)

·        Grace Christian Academy—Will McKamey (defensive back), Jake Minga (receiver), Preston Morris (offensive line), and Christian Steward (defensive line).

           

Quarterback Cody Hill and defensive back Anthony Wilkins of Coalfield and Greenback’s Hogan Goodson (defensive back) made the 1A squad.

            The Tennessee Sports Writers Association annually publishes a roster of the best players in the state in each football classification.
