Operation Rudolph Bags 22 On Drug Charges
Huntsville, TN (2012-01-05) While
the holidays are over, the Scott County Sheriff’s Department unleashed
“Operation Rudolph” on Thursday, bagging twenty-two persons on a variety of
charges, most of them drug related.
On
Thursday, Scott County Sheriff Mike Cross deployed all the resources of the
Sheriff’s Department in the second phase of “Operation Rudolph”, a two-step, coordinated effort to arrest sex and drug offenders in the
community. “It was a highly successful
day,” commented Sheriff Cross, as he looked over the list of 21 persons picked
up by the department in a single day.
And while law enforcement officers made multiple arrests, it also left
an impression on the drug trade in Scott
County. “They (drug dealers) never know when we’re
going to strike,” remarked Cross. The fear
of the unknown can affect trafficking and the availability of illicit drugs for
days.
In
mid-December, the Sheriff’s Department launched phase
one of its plan, focusing on sex offenders in the community. The Department arrested three-adults and one
juvenile on outstanding warrants. It
also targeted two others for non compliance with the state requirement to
maintain and update their sexual offender registry.
