State Redistricting Changes Boundaries;
Scott Designation Unchanged
Nashville, TN
(2012-01-10) Although the state redistricting plan
will change the makeup of the 38th House District, Scott County
will remain in the district. The
proposed changes in the district map will see the addition of one county to the
12th State Senatorial District.
As
proposed last week, the population shifts in Tennessee
will result in minor changes to both the 12th State Senatorial
District and the 38th State House District; however, Scott County
will not be affected by the changes.
As
proposed, the 12th State Senatorial District will remain intact,
including the counties of Scott, Campbell, Fentress,
Morgan, Roane and Rhea
Counties. In addition to those counties, Pickett County has also been added to the
district.
The
38th District has been redrawn, resulting in the addition of a
section of Fentress County (north of SR 52), the removal of Jackson County,
and the deletion of the northernmost section of Anderson County. Macon
County has been added to
the district. Ten years ago, a section
of Macon County, which had been part of the
district for a decade, was taken out.
Clay, Pickett and Scott
County will remain in the
district.
Senator
Ken Yager (R-Harriman) currently represents the 12th
State Senatorial District.
Representative Kelly Keisling (R-Byrdstown) is
currently in the second year of his first term representing the 38th
District.
