Kentucky Trio Booked
On Theft Charges
Oneida, TN
(2012-01-19) Three persons from Kentucky have been booked on theft charges
after allegedly taking electronics from a local discount store.
Dustin
M. Oyer, 27, and Sophia M. Johnson, 45, both of Williamsburg, KY, and
Billy E. Ramey, 41, of Cordell, KY, were booked last Sunday by the Oneida Police
Department for allegedly stealing several items from the Wal-Mart
SuperCenter
in Oneida.
According
to an arrest warrant filed by Patrolman Joshua Kennedy, Oyer
and Ramey allegedly stole several items from the electronics department at the
local Wal-Mart SuperCenter,
including a flat panel television, a wall mount for the television and a
computer. The pair, stated the warrant,
took the items to the lawn and garden area of the store, where Ramey allegedly
kicked open an emergency door. Oyer and Ramey reportedly exited the store and loaded the
items into a van. Video footage reviewed
by authorities, stated the warrant, revealed Johnson was waiting in the van for
the men to return.
Armed
with a description of the van provided by a store associate, Officer Kennedy
reportedly pulled the vehicle over just north of Oneida City Hall. As he approached the van, Kennedy allegedly
observed the stolen merchandise in the back.
A subsequent search of the van uncovered a host of other stolen
merchandise, including a computer cable, paint rollers, paint brushes, and
coffee creamer.
At
the time of the traffic stop, Oyer was reportedly
driving the vehicle. Oyer’s
license, authorities determined, were suspended.
The
trio was charged with criminal conspiracy and theft of over $500. Ramey was also charged with vandalism. Oyer was also
booked for driving on a suspended license.
