According to Director Bill Hall and Supervisor of Instruction Linda Keeton, eleven teachers have been selected by a panel of their peers to potentially represent the Scott County School System in the annual Tennessee Teacher of the Year contest. Instructors are divided into three categories, kindergarten through fourth grade, fifth through eighth, and ninth to twelfth.
Finalists chosen at each of the individual schools were: Burchfield Elementary, --Michelle Stephens (K-4), and Dan Terry (5-8); Fairview Elementary—Shona Harris (K-4), and Janet Lloyd (5-8); Huntsville Elementary—Salena Day (K-4); Huntsville Middle—Debbie L. Phillips (5-8); Robbins Elementary—Sharon Blackburn (K-4), and Shirley Stephens (5-8); Winfield Elementary—Amanda Ayers (K-4), and George Hoffman (5-8); and Scott High—Stacy Marlar.
Countywide teachers, which will be eligible to compete in the regional competition, will be selected on Friday, February 3, 2012.
